home-town-in-sight

Known as “Schneider”, Schmike Nider”, and a few other choice ones…I was a proud Grad of B.I.L.L. (Bird Island - Lake Lillian).  I grew up in a cool small town, west of Minneapolis on highway 212, called “Bird Island”.

The Lions Club once sold bumper stickers that read “Where the Hell is Bird Island?”  Which later had a PC version “Where in Heaven is Bird Island”.

Towns are scattered between corn, sugarbeats, peas, sweetcorn, and soybeans…and there all grown in Black Dirt!

Almost Home...

 Welcome to BI!

My parents still live on this corner, and I can’t wait to see them on the second half of this summers big “Staycation”.  There is something special about being home.

Favorite Place back home…”Happy Acres”, my Dads 2 Wildlife Ponds.  Peaceful.

Dad's Wildlife Refuge

My favorite sound…when I hear Dad fire up his classic Deere…

The ONLY “Stop” lights…near my all time favorite eatery…they are on the side of the roads, which really screws me up.  No ‘Red Light Camera’s in Bird Island’

Athmann's has always been the BEST

Meet ‘The Children of the Corn’…back on the Farm.

Small Town Boy…Big Boy Dreams.  I have only wanted to be in Radio…and now 27 years later I am doing what I only dreamed of doing.  But…I have never forgotten the pickin’ weeds and rocks, hay barns and cleaning barns.  I always dreamed of not having a ‘Real Job’.  Thanks for checkin’ out where I grew up…it’s a special place to me.
