The Jefferson Memorial

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

The Jefferson Memorial was another site I looked forward to seeing…honoring the thrid President of the United States.  When the memorial was finished, it was ridiculed as the “Jefferson’s Muffin”.

The interior of the memorial has a 19 foot tall, 10,000 pound (5 ton) bronze statue of Jefferson by sculptor Rudulph Evans, which was added four years after the dedication. The interior walls are engraved with passages from Jefferson’s writings.

Faith was the cornerstone to this Great Nation,

Funny it’s all about taking God out of everything now.

The author of the Declaration of Independence was one of the founding fathers of the United States. A firm believer in equal rights, democracy, education available to all, freedom of religion and separation between church and state, he gave form to the nascent nation still searching for its identity. Besides being a politician, Jefferson was also an architect, a writer, musician, scientist and inventor.orial pays tribute to Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States.

The Jefferson Statue…faces the White House.  I guess this founding father wants to give the Presidents something to look at when he’s wonder what to do.  Lookout the window, George W and wonder “What Would Jefferson Do?”
